  • Notes
    • Faustina Dickey passed peacefully on Dec. 27, 2013, of natural causes.

She was born in Feb. 19, 1920, to Dionisio and Damasa (Meabe) Gabica at St. Alphous Hospital in Boise, Idaho.

Faustina married Doyle Dickey (deceased) on Dec. 24, 1941, and after World War II lived in Middleton, Caldwell and Napa until 2010, when she moved to Longview, Wash., to be closer to her family.

Faustina enjoyed working and retired as manager of the Canyon County License Bureau. Among other pastimes, she enjoyed doing ceramics and leaves many wonderful and creative pieces for her family to enjoy. She loved to dance and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She spoke fluent Basque and was very proud of her Basque heritage.

Faustina is survived by one brother, Henry Gabica; sons, Jim and Tom Dickey; grandchildren, Tom, Susan, Paula, and John; great-grandchildren, Mitch, Alli, Maleia, TJ, and Kaden; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Joe Gabica; and one sister, Virginia (Gabica) Stevens.

A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, at the Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Basque Foundation, 601 Grove St., Boise, ID 83702.
