BOISE — Ed Aspitarte, formerly of Ontario, OR, passed peacefully in the presence of his two daughters on July 20, 2015.
Ed was born December 14, 1923 to Domingo and Rafaela (Alberdi) Aspitarte in Gooding, ID.
He attended schools in Gooding. Following graduation from Gooding High School in 1941, he entered the Army, and went overseas to fight for his country. Upon the end of the war, he returned home and continued his education at Utah State and University of Idaho, earning a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's degree in Counseling. He was a member of Kappa Sigma and Alpha Theta Phi Epsilon Fraternities.
Ed married Kathleen Villeneuve in 1949. The couple had three children, Marilyn (1950), Christine (1954), and Michael (1959).
Ed began his teaching career in Ontario in 1951 at Ontario High School. He moved to Ontario Junior High in 1962, where he became the boy's counselor until 1989. During the summer months, he worked for Rain & Hail Insurance, specializing in crop adjusting throughout Idaho and Oregon.
Ed enjoyed playing golf and found enjoyment searching for golf balls with his son-in-law, Stephen.
Ed is survived by his two daughters, Marilyn Aspitarte Grace (Stephen J.) and Christine L. Nelson (Larry); and his sister, Juanita Sain of Limo, OH.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Aspitarte; his son, Michael Aspitarte; three sisters; and three brothers.
Vigil services will be at 7:00 pm, Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 829 SW 2nd Ave., Ontario, OR. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Monday, July 27, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial concluding at Evergreen Cemetery, Ontario.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made to the Basque Foundation, 601 Grove St., Boise, ID 83702; the Ontario Basque Club; or to the Blessed Sacrament Church Renovation project.
