    • John Mentaberry, one of Humboldt County's pioneer sheepmen, died Tuesday in a local hospital following a long illness. He was 91. Born Sept 6, 1882, in France, he came to the United States in 1906 at the the Washburn Creek Ranch near McDermittt, which he operated until 1958 when he retired. Survivors include children John Jr and Mrs Mary Yrueta both of Winnemucca, Anne Bengoa of Orovada, Fausto of Reno, Henry and Delores Jones, both of Winnemucca, George and Eddy of McDermitt and Dave of Reno. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today in the Eddy and Son Mortuary here. Requiem Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday in St Paul's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the family plot in the Winnemucca Cemetery.
