- Antonio (Tony) Mendive, 80, Vale, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, in Holy Rosary Medical Center, Ontario. Rosary will be at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Vale. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Vale. Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Home, Ustick Chapel, Meridian.
Tony was born in Vale, Aug. 28, 1923, to Claudio and Matilda Mendive.
Tony had been a farmer, rancher and barber in Vale for more than 50 years. He is known for his integrity, sense of humor, generosity and love for his family. He will be remembered and loved by the many, many people who knew him.
Antonio is survived by his wife, Pheobe, Vale; his children, Alan Mendive, Adrian, Tonia Miller, Vale, Rick Mendive, Nyssa, Trina Nilsson, Manteno, Ill., and Katie Godby, Meridian; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews; and two sisters, Connie Aldape, Boise and Julia Troph, Vale.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother and father; his brother, Lloyd Mendive; his sisters, Benancia Gehley, Louisa Barcart, Marie Uriarte and Francis Mendiola; his son, Tim Mendive; and his first wife, Peggy Davis-Mendive.
