On Friday, November 28, 2014, Henry (Hank) Gabica, 89 of Twin Falls, passed away quietly at his home.

Born January 5, 1925, in Portland, Oregon to Dionisio and Damasa (Maebe) Gabica, he was the youngest of five children. He attended country school and later town school in Middleton, Idaho, graduating in 1942 from Middleton High School. In 1944, Hank joined the U.S. Navy where he served as Quartermaster on the USS Sibley APA206 until discharged in May 1946. Beginning in September 1946, he attended two years at the University of Idaho. He then worked for various employers and in 1950 started working for Mountain Bell as a lineman.

On June 1, 1952, he married Patricia Ineas in Shoshone, Idaho. Hank and Pat lived in Idaho and Arizona while he worked in construction, transferring in 1960 to Twin Falls. On December 30,1983, after over 33 years he retired from Mountain Bell. After his retirement, he ran the
Hackney Agency selling and appraising real estate and then prepared income tax returns for the AARP Tax Aid.

He is survived by his bride of 62 years Patricia, children John Gabica (Kay), Dave Gabica (Georgie) and Mike Gabica (Theresa), Cindy Baughman (Mike), Patty Gabica Haas (Dirk) and Denise Heller (Tom), 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and granddaughter, Isabel Gabica. Hank was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.

Hank loved baseball, particularly the New York Yankees, and at 82, got his first hole-in-one at Pleasant Valley Golf Course. In his spare time, he enjoyed helping family and friends with various handyman projects, including installing lifelines for Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. He was actively involved in the USS Sibley annual reunions, serving as Secretary/Treasurer for many years. He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church for 54 years and the Telephone Pioneers. He was a charter member of the Boise Basque Club and helped build the original Basque Club building.
