Martin D. Arriola, 61, longtime Moses Lake resident, was killed in a motorcycle accident Friday, July 3.

Martin’s Farming, operated with his son, is a large haying operation in the Columbia Basin and soil fumigation business in the Tri-state area.

He was born April 13, 1948, in Ontario, Oregon. He moved to Moses Lake as a young man with his farming family and graduated from Moses Lake High School. He went on to receive an AA degree in Air Frame and Power Plant from Big Bend Community College. His first job was with Boeing in Everett, Washington, where he worked on the first production 747. He was drafted into the Army and became a decorated Vietnam Veteran. Upon returning to Moses Lake, he became a top salesman for the Kirby Company, but he soon returned to family farming. He was soon to meet the love of his life, LaRaine Anderson.

He was a member of the Black Sands Water Board and the Moses Lake Golf Club. His passions were flying and golf. He combined the two by traveling and visiting many golf courses and participating in Pro Am Tournaments throughout the area. With his family, he also loved riding motorcycles, four wheeling, jeeping and snowmobiling.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, LaRaine, son Justin with wife Holly and grandson Camden, and his daughter Shelly with husband Justin Good and granddaughter McKenna. He is also survived in the Moses Lake area by brothers Jim and Robert Arriola, sister Melinda Lyles and, in Seattle, sister Christina Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents Dionisio and Nellie Arriola and grandson Tyler Good.

A memorial service is planned in Moses Lake at the Assembly of God Church, 3 p.m., Thursday, July 9. The family welcomes all who would like to join in celebrating his life. A reception will follow at the Moses Lake Golf Club. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory.
