Mary Adele Mentaberry Yrueta, more affectionately known to everyone as Tia Mary, joined her beloved husband, Johnny Yrueta, in heaven on August 18, 2012. Mary was born on June 29, 1917. She loved life to the fullest and enjoyed traveling, golfing, and spending time with her family and many friends. She spent over fifty years volunteering and enjoying her Euskalduna Danak Bat Basque Club, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, The Catholic Church and the Altar Society, OLV, PTA and her many golfing friends.

Mary was born to Damiena Goitiandia Mentaberry and John Mentaberry. She married Johnny Yrueta on December 31,1937. She was the eldest daughter of nine children. She is survived by her sister, Delores (Albert) Jones, and her brothers, Eddie (Jeann) Mentaberry of Winnemucca and her brother, David Mentaberry, of Reno. Her daughter, Deanna (Bob) Prida and Mary's grandchildren, Steven and Tina (Bobby) Hurst and great-grandchildren, Brandon and Courtney reside in Flagstaff. Her daughter, Ruby (Bill) Lowery and grandsons John, and Joe (Lisa) and great-grandchildren, Kyla and Malia, reside in Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers, John Mentaberry Jr. (Angela), Fausto (Joyce) Mentaberry, Henry (Barbara), George and sister Annie (Frank) Bengoa.

Mary's long, wonderful life was made possible by her loving, large Basque family and truly caring friends. There are too many to list, but all of you meant a great deal to her and gave her so much joy and happiness.

Mary attended the Winnemucca Grammar School and graduated from Humboldt County High School in 1936 and received the "Golden Award." She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the Humboldt County School District and the Community College in Winnemucca. Her countless bowls of "flan" Basque custard, that she made for every funeral and special occasion will be missed. God speed Mary.

Services will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Winnemucca, Nevada on Saturday, August 25, 2012 beginning with a rosary at 10:30 a.m. followed by a mass at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements are by Albertson Funeral Home.

In memory of Mary donations may be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church in Winnemucca, the Winnemucca Basque Club or to the Humboldt County Library in Winnemucca.
