    Notes:

Felisa Marie Madariaga Arritola, age 91, of Boise, formerly of Jordan Valley passed away at home on January 19, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in the Madariaga Boarding House in Jordan Valley on September 19, 1918 to Eulogio and Trinidad Madariaga. She worked in the boarding house until she married Paul Arritola on December 9, 1938. In their first years together, they ranched at the Old Arritola Ranch and had their first four children, Marie, Rosie, Paul and Patricia. Later, while leasing the Acarregui place, they had Dan and Joanne. They purchased and moved back to the boarding house when the kids began to reach school age. Felisa ran the boarding house, using her many gifts of hospitality including cooking, cleaning and entertaining, while Paul leased and owned various other ranches. The boarding house was "the" gathering place for both sides of the family and friends for many years. After the boarding house years, they continued ranching. Heer beloved Paul passed away on October 2, 1977. Felisa was a true artist at making sweaters. For years she knitted sweaters producing hundreds of them for family and friends throughout the valley. Her favorite tradition was making them for all of the newborn babies. She loved cooking big Basque meals and hosted most of the family gatherings over the years. She was the absolute queen of Basque rice pudding. No matter how hard her family tried over the years, they could never get it as p perfect as she did. She loved visitors of all ages and insisted that when you came to see her, you eat good food and lots of it. She became "Amuma" to old and young alike, whether you were related by blood or not. When she moved to Boise and was no longer able to host the big gatherings, she still bossed from the living room. She also ventured out and drove the golf cart for her daughters - becoming their golf mascot. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; baby daughter, Patricia; brothers, Joe, Sabino and Aiden; sisters Aurora and Bea; and son-in-law, Dick Kershner. She is survived by children Marie Kershner; Rosie Pinkela (Frank); Paul Arritola; Dan Arritola (Mary); Joanne Odiaga (Mike); 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; siblings Rosie Bilboa; Leonora Greiner; Richard Madariaga (Bonnie); Aleck Madariaga; Mary Tom (Benny). There will be a communion service at the Parish Hall in Jordan Valley at 7:00-7:30 p.m. on Friday evening (January 22), followed by visitation from 7:30-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Saturday (January 23) at the grade school gym in Jordan Valley at 11:00 a.m., followed by a meal at the Parish Hall. Services are under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the , P.O.
