Sabina Benedicta (Abarrategui) Emerson, age 86, passed away on August 5, 2015. The daughter of Domingo and Benedicta Abarrategui, Sabina was born on March 22, 1929 in Boise. She attended St. Teresa's Academy and as a teen she worked as an usherette at the Egyptian Theater. After high school, she attended business school and worked in an office until she met and married George Emerson. She eventually moved to southern California to raise her growing family. After her children were raised, she was employed for many years at a cable company in Palm Desert where she enjoyed her job and her co-workers.
Upon her retirement, Sabina returned to Boise. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. In her free time, Sabina enjoyed a variety of artistic and creative hobbies and her family is blessed with many special keepsakes that she made. She w was a prolific knitter who created special afghans for her family members; she also knitted afghans for various local charities each year. It's comforting to her family to know that there are so many of Sabina's blankets keeping people warm. She also loved watching tennis and golf and she delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Serrita (Harry) Beaulieu; Michael (Liselda) Emerson; Vikki (Ted) Johnson; Georgia Emerson; and Margaret Emerson. She is also survived by grandchildren Kelly and Sarah Stohr, Cooper Emerson, Damara Castrejon, Erika Zepeda, Jordan Johnson, Tanner Emerson, Robert and Madelene Sheeran, as well as great-grandchildren Anna and Alex Stohr and Hazel Kurzawski. Two of her sisters, Angelus White and Connie Naylor, also survive her. Jenny and Emily Beaulieu and Braden and Kailey Crain were also an important part of her family in her later years. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Patrick Emerson, her sister Louise, brother Ramon, and her parents.
Services will be held in October.
