    Dr.. William G. Arbonies passed away on Fri day, September 9, 2005 after suffering a stroke and finally cause of death was due to heart failure. Dr.. Arbonies was March 3, 1914 in Winnemucca, Nevada. His parents, Martin and Silvia Silonis Arbonies, growing up in the Old Country of Spain knew that they had to go to the United States at all costs to be able to have children and be able to have them go through the Educational Advantage of the U.S.A. Growing up on a ranch in Paradise Valleley just outside of Winnemucca, he attended the Winnemucca grammar and the Winnemucca High Schools. He also worked at the local pharmacy doing odd jobs and deliveries in the Winnemucca area. He graduated with Honors and attended the University of Nevada graduating with Honors, and attended the Northwestern University and the Northwestern Medical School Evanston in Chicago, IL. William's 91 years have been marked by remarkable accomplishments. Dr.Arbonies met his wife in 1944, who at the time was a volunteer in the Red Cross, at an American Hospital in Paris, when she was a patient for a sprained ankle in the emergency room. They were married in the County of Warren, State of Mississippi on the 29th day of April 1949. He workeked at the St. Luke Hospital before transferring to St. Mary's Hospital in Reno acting as the Chief of Radiological Dept. He also made house calls with a portable x-ray machine and had portable EKG equipment to help those in need. He also starteted the X-Ray Technician School at the University of Nevada and had in-hospital training in his Radiological Dept. in St. Mary's Hospital. Upon retiring from St. Mary's Hospital he volunteer at the VA in Reno and then took on the Position for thhe Chief Medical Advisor of the United State Post al Service and lived back in Chicago for six years and then transferred to Sacramento United States Postal Office and retired in 1992 at the age of 79. Dr Arbonies received throughout his lifetimime numerous out standing Awards from the medical profession, the University of Nevada, the Radiological Society of North America of which he was a counselor from 1950 to 1968 and continued being a member to his death and also a counselor for the American College of Radiological from 1968 to 1969. Dr. A was also a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employee Assn. until his death along with being a member of the American Medical Assn. and the Washoe Medical society. He was one of the founding members of establishing Hidden Valley Country Club, Pioneer Citizen Bank of Nevada and a B.P.O. Elk member with the Reno, Nevada Lodge No. 597. Dr. Arbonies was able to attend the Alumni Reunion this last year of the Univerersity of Nevada and his high school reunion in Winnemucca where he received special recognition as the oldest attending alumni at both reunions. A loving, kind and generous man, "Dr. A's" memory will be treasured by his wife of 56 years, Lillian Charlotte Arbonies, son David and wife Cheryl of Elko, Nevada, Charlotte Arbonies Thrall of Reno, Nevada and grandson William C. Thrall of Scottsdale, AZ, William G. Arbonies, an architect in San Francisco preceded his father's death on Dec. 2, 2002. His American Flag will be donated to the National Cemetery of unknown veterans. He had a love of animals in the past and now, two Yorkies, Renegade and Sugar, a cat named Ginger and Cockatoo-Cholie and in lieu of flowers; donations may be made to Humane Society of Nevada, PO Box KIND, Sparks, Nevada 89432
