Elaine was born Aug. 16, 1914, the fourth of 10 children born to Lazaro and Josefa (Aldecoa) Urquiaga, Jordan Valley. She was educated in Jordan Valley and Arock. She married Joaquin Jaca on March 26, 1936, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caldwell. Born to this marriage were three children, Elias Jaca, Reynolds Creek, Ramona Pascoe, Jordan Valley and a baby daughter who passed away, Gloria Jean Jaca.

Elaine and Joaquin began their married life at the Crooked Creek Ranch and the Bowden Ranch. In 1940 they purchased the ranch in Jordan Valley which later became known as Jaca Bros. This was the house she considered home and they raised their family here. She lived at this place until November of 2001, when the ranch was sold.

Elaine's home was always open to everyone with a wonderful meal or a good cup of coffee and a yummy dessert. She cooked many meals for whoever might drop into the ranch for business or pleasure. We will never forget her really good cookies and her very special Basque cooking. Amuma's afghans are still being enjoyed by family and friends.

Elaine leaves a son, Elias (Inez) Jaca, Nampa; two grandchildren Luisa (Kelly) Munsee, Kimberly, Idaho, and Martin (Susan) Jaca, Given Springs; a daughter, Ramona (Nick) Pascoe, Jordan Valley; three grandchildren, Jeannie (Mike) Stanford, Jordan Valley; Jacque (Jes) Naegle, Jordan Valley and Jim Pascoe, Jordan Valley; five wonderful great grandchildren, Shane Stanford, Kuna, Brandi (Jess) Lisle, Bruneau, Nickie Naegle, Jordan Valley and Matea and Josune Jaca, Given Springs; four sisters, Vic Eiguren, Polly Baltzor, Josie Swisher and Cecilia Shields; one brother, Ed Urquiaga; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joaquin Jaca; daughter, Gloria Jean; her mother and father; three sisters, Chris Metcalf, Ruby Lynde and Mercedes Calzacorta; and a brother, Domingo Urquiaga.

The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful hospice care givers and caring staff at Dove's Landing.

Memorials can be made to St. Bernard's Catholic church, Box 186, Jordan Valley, OR 97910 or to Gaurdian Hospice, 512 N. Kings Road, Nampa, ID 83687.
